If you received Special Education services while in the public school system (Itinerate, 资源或自包含), we will need your most current Psycho-Educational Evaluation (rather than an IEP) or your 504 Plan.

The Psycho-Educational Evaluation is the evaluation that determined that you were eligible for services in Special Education.  这不是你的IEP.  你的IEP会告诉我们的 WHAT 你在公立学校收到的，是不会告诉我们的 WHY.  Your evaluation will assist us in providing the most effective accommodations and services.

Student Rights

When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. 员工可能会问两个问题:

1. is the service animal required because of a disability, and
2. what work or task the service animal has been trained to perform.

员工不能询问员工的残疾情况, 需要医疗证明, a special identification card or training documentation for the service animal, or ask that the service animal demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.

The Americans With Disabilities Act and its amendments define a service animal as a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. Under Title II and III of the ADA, dogs are recognized as service animals.

• GUIDE DOG - serves as a travel tool for a blind or visually impaired person
• HEARING DOG - alerts a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person when a sound occurs
• SERVICE DOG - assists a person who has a mobility or health impairment
• SIG DOG -帮助患有自闭症的人

Therapy and Companion Animals are generally not covered under the ADA.

• should be vaccinated in accordance with state and local laws
• have a statement of vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian dated within the past year
• be well-groomed and receive excellent veterinary care, including an annual checkup

• Handlers are expected to maintain control of service animals. 如果服务性动物表现出不可接受的行为, the handler may be required to employ appropriate training techniques to correct the situation. Failure to maintain control of the service animal at all times may be grounds for immediate removal of the service animal from campus.
  • Service animals can be controlled through the use of leashes, harnesses, or tethers unless those devices interfere with the service animals’ ability to perform tasks or unless the handler has a disability that prevents him/her from using such a device.
  • The service animal should respond to voice or hand commands at all times and be in full control of the handler.

  • Display any behaviors or noises that are disruptive to others unless part of the service being provided to the handler.
